My works examine the facets of myself that are only revealed through my interaction with others and my interaction with my environment. These self‐portraits reveal new pieces of identity that I could not see without these other elements there to show those parts of who I am.
I am concerned with expressing these ideas beyond representation and execution. This effort to capture with paint fractions of self that cannot effectively be examined through words or introspection alone has both pushed my artwork further and brought me to the edge of myself, allowing the work to transcend past my own expression.
I am currently investigating the relationship between my identity and sense of place. My connections to loved locations are parallel to many closest friendships and bring out similar emotions.
As I consider the temporary aspect of it, ‘place’ becomes less of a location and more of a possession held in the items I bring with me into each new area. The physical objects we carry as comforts and as ‘home’ reflect the inner barriers we uphold in our relationships.
Lucky Penny Charm Bracelet DIY (Video!)
Making a Lucky Penny Charm Bracelet is super simple, and it makes the perfect Christmas gift or stocking stuffer for almost anyone you know who wears bracelets: give your mom a bracelet with a penny for each of her children's birth years, your lovey a penny from the year you met/wed, or just give anyone a bracelet with the year they were born. The hardest part is sorting through your change jar/couch cushions/car to find the right penny.
"Clue" Drink Markers and Coasters DIY
This Clue Drink Set for Six makes a fun hostess gift for a murder mystery party, adds flair to board game night, and pairs perfectly with a viewing party for the movie "Clue," which is hilarious. Best of all, it is easy to make yourself and, with some creative adjustments, could be replicated with pretty much any board game.
Like the Bees
Things have been as busy as my bees are outside. That's right--I got bees!
Along with my new beekeepin' ways, here is an update of some other cool things I've been creating recently.
Welcome to my MAGIC ART LAND. The Studio is Finished!
As you know, we just bought our first house in June. The house had a wooden shed in the backyard which we've been turning into my art studio.
Two months later and the project of transforming the wooden shed into my epic artland is done. DONE. I even made my first project in there tonight (right after I took all these pictures--the studio's cleanliness has been replaced by nylon scraps and rope bits).
